Roadmap to End Disassociation with APP Open for Consultation
FSC has published a draft roadmap outlining the commitments required from Asia Pulp and Paper (APP) before the FSC Board of Directors will consider ending its disassociation. The draft roadmap will be open for consultation from 4 April to 1 May 2016.
FSC began its talks with APP to develop the roadmap in August 2015, and has been in regular contact ever since. The roadmap outlines five high-level commitments that APP is expected to make in order to conform fully with the FSC Policy for Association. The commitments will be implemented through specific activities which will be monitored according to plans laid out in the roadmap.
The five commitments APP must implement are:
1. Improvement of forest management operations to meet the FSC controlled wood standard.
2. Compensation for converted or cleared natural forest areas.
3. Alignment of APP policies and procedures for establishing new plantations with FSC definitions and rules.
4. Due diligence for sourcing wood.
5. Public reporting on progress of implementing the roadmap.
An informational webinar will be organised – in English and Bahasa. And a targeted regional consultation will take place in Indonesia to collect constructive feedback and the views of affected stakeholders. The webinar schedule is below.
• 18 April 2016, 9:00-10:00 CEST [English]
• 19 April 2016, 17:00-18:00 CEST [Bahasa]
We invite all international members of FSC to participate in the consultation on the roadmap.
